Academic Counseling

As the Academic Counselor for CAG High School, Michelle Fajkus supports students with special academic needs and goals, as well as their teachers and parents.

--Collaborates with counselors and teachers to ensure opportunities for differentiated instruction and to provide individualized learning support for student with special needs. 

--Development, documentation and monitoring of Student Learning Profiles:
o    Collaborating with the team of teachers, counselors, specialists, administrators and parents
o    Incorporating recommendations from external professionals
o    Identifying individual students’ strengths and needs
o    Setting short-term objectives and long-term goals
o    Making appropriate recommendations for classroom and testing modifications
•    Informal evaluation of students to determine areas of need and progress
•    Administration of formal evaluation tools to students as needed
•    Analysis of internal and external assessment results to determine individual and group progress
•    Training for teachers in differentiation strategies and assessment tools
•    Academic intervention through individualized support and tutoring for students at risk of failing
•    Support students with emotional or behavioral issues that are affecting academic performance
•    Teaching advisory weekly to grade 9
